Get a Library Card

Getting your library card is the best way to access the wealth of information and resources available to you.
WHO CAN GET A FREE LIBRARY CARD?
Residents of Chicago Ridge who are at least 5 years old are eligible to apply for a library card.
  
Those under 18 years of age are required to come to the library with a parent or legal guardian in order to get a library card. The parent or legal guardian will sign the application and library card before the card is issued. Guardians must provide legal documentation proving they are a minor’s legal guardian. These cards are issued for a period of 3 years and are renewable upon request.
WHAT DO I NEED TO GET MY LIBRARY CARD?
Any person applying for a library card is required to show a valid photo ID and a current preprinted form of identification that has the applicants name and Chicago Ridge address as proof of residence. If your photo ID does not have your current Chicago Ridge address, please bring a second piece of mail.

WHERE CAN I USE MY LIBRARY CARD?
Library cards issued to residents of Chicago Ridge are honored by Illinois public libraries, including member libraries of the SWAN catalog.

The Chicago Ridge Public Library honors library cards from other Illinois public libraries as well.
